YOUTHBUILD IS PROVIDING

BETTER EDUCATION

IN 2023

Donate to our Annual Appeal and help YouthBuild Lake County provide better education within your community. Your donation supports a better future for our young adults and Lake County as a whole.

Your Donation Matters Here

We know that when young people are given the tools they need to succeed, they can achieve incredible things. That’s why we need your help! When you donate to our annual appeal, you’re supporting teenagers in your own community who are working hard to build a better future for themselves and their families. You’re helping them earn their diplomas and start careers, while getting the support they need. But we can’t do it without you! Please donate today and help us reach our $10,000 match goal!

In 2021, Lake County’s High School dropout rate was 9%. That equates to almost 1 out of 10 young adults in Lake County without a diploma. Traditional high schools may not be a good fit for some students who struggle with emotional wellbeing, unstable living environments or simply need more personal attention, pushing the dropout rate continuously higher. YouthBuild is trying to fix that.

What We're Doing About It

Our education staff have identified the need for tactile and visual smart technology to help our members better understand subjects and concepts in a hands on setting. Our members often faced trouble in high school because of the lecture-style format popular in traditional schooling. We want to change that in 2023. By creating a more engaging learning environment, we are helping our young adults fully grasp concepts critical to their success both academically and within their chosen career pathways.

New Technology Will Impact Learning

Smart technology is proven to have significant impacts in long-term content retention and for creating a more engaging experience within the classroom. By providing a better learning experience, we hope to inspire our members to pursue higher academic and career goals after YouthBuild. Read below to see how this new technology will benefit the young adults we serve.

In 2023, YBLC saw a greater number of young adults hoping to attend college than ever before. By providing this new, engaging way to learn, we hope to better prepare and motivate our members to pursue post-secondary degrees.

By better preparing our members in the classroom, we are, in turn, preparing them for the jobsite as well. Concepts in all subjects, but particularly mathematics, will help our members work effectively and efficiently on the work site.

It can be easy to be discouraged in a high school setting when you feel looked over and don’t receive the personal attention you need. We want to encourage our members to learn and grow by implementing learning modules that support their learning styles and educational needs.

“I’m a visual learner. Smart technology in our classrooms will help members like me understand new subjects and remember the content better! I’m so excited!

-Aaron, Spring 2022
