Jaime's Story
“This program and my job have been the biggest blessing of my year. I would not even be close to where I am at right now without YouthBuild.”
Jaime, Trainee in YBLC's Inaugural Pre-Apprentice Program
Jaime came to YouthBuild with the goal of starting a lifelong career. “I was doing landscaping and brick laying. I just kept thinking big picture. I wanted to build the house instead of the things around it,” said Jaime. “The reason I joined the pre-apprentice program was because I was tired of the same pattern. I took a leap, and it ended up being the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Jaime spent his 12 weeks learning everything he could and excelled both on site and in the classroom. His commitment to his personal success has already yielded unimaginable results.
After finishing his pre-apprentice program, Jaime was accepted into the Local 58 Carpenters’ Union four-year apprenticeship program. He works full-time for Blinderman Construction as he progresses through the apprentice program towards Journeyworker status.
